SSC Stenographer Exam date 2018 Announced
Staff Selection Commission released the Stenographer recruitment notice inviting applications from eligible candidates for Stenographer Grade C & D posts. SSC will hold an All India Open Competitive Examination for recruitment to the posts of Stenographer Grade ‘C’ ( Group ‘B’ Non-Gazetted ) and Stenographer Grade ‘D’(Group ‘C’ Non-Gazetted). Candidates having required skills in stenography only need to apply. More details are provided below.

The Exam date is declared now. The written test will be held on 05, 06, 07 January 2019. SSC Stenographer Admit card will be released 2-3 weeks before the examination date i.e. January 2019.

Eligibility Criteria:
Age limit: 18-27 years for Grade D and 18-30 years for Grade C Steno. Relaxation is application as per rules.

Passed 12th exam
Skill test: 100 word per minute (w.p.m) for the post of Stenographer Grade ‘C’ and 80 w.p.m. for the post of Stenographer Grade ‘D’.

Exam Details:
SSC will conduct written examination having 100 objective type questions carrying 100 marks and 2 hours duration (2 hours 40 minutes for scribes as mentioned in advt).

SSC Stenographer Notification 2018 Exam date, online registration, vacancy details

SSC will hold a Combined All India Open Examination for filling vacancies of Steno Grade C & D. The candidates should be 12th pass from an institution recognized by Govt. of India or equivalent qualification in order to apply for these posts.

The selection for these posts will be done on the basis of Written Examination followed by skill test.

Age Limit as on 01-01-2019: 18-27 years for Grade D, 18-30 for Grade C. Age is relaxable for reserved categories as per govt rules.

Educational Qualifications:
Must have passed 12th Standard or equivalent from a recognized Board or University.

Application fee: Rs. 100/- for General / OBC
Payment of application fee is exempted for all women candidates and candidates belonging to Scheduled Caste, Scheduled Tribe, Persons with disability and Ex-servicemen eligible for reservation, as per Government orders.

SSC Stenographer Selection process:
Candidates will be shortlisted for the skill test on the basis of their performance in the Written Examination. Candidates who qualifyin the skill test will be recommended for appointment by the Commission on the basis of their performance in the Written Examination. Allocation of candidates
will be made to User Departments depending upon their merit position and post preferences filled by them at the time of application.
The examination will consist of a written examination and skill test in stenography.
The written examination will consist of one objective type paper having 3 sections.
1. General Intelligence & Reasoning - (50 questions )
2. General Awareness ( 50 questions)
3. English Language and Comprehension (100 questions)
The questions except in Part III will be set both in English & Hindi.
There will be negative marking of 0.25 marks for each wrong answer.

About SSC Stenographer Skill test:
The candidates will have to appear for the stenography test which is of qualifying nature. The candidates will be given one dictation for 10 minutes in English / Hindi at the speed of 100 w.p.m. for the post of Stenographer Grade ‘C’ and 80 w.p.m. for the post of Stenographer Grade ‘D’. The matter will have to be transcribed on computer only. The evaluation of transcription will be done electronically only. The transcription time is as follows:-
For Stenographer Grade ‘D’ : 50 minutes ( English )
65 minutes ( Hindi )
For Stenographer Grade ‘C’: 40 minutes ( English )
55 Minutes ( Hindi )
VH candidates will be required to transcribe the matter in 75 minutes for English Shorthand or in 100 minutes for Hindi Shorthand for the post of Stenographer Grade ‘D’ and in 70 minutes for English Shorthand test and in 95 minutes for Hindi Shorthand test for the post of Stenographer Grade

How to apply for SSC Stenographer Notification 2018: Applications must be submitted only in the prescribed format On-line or by Post. The candidates are required to indicate the order of preference for the posts of Stenographer Grade ‘C’ and Stenographer Grade ‘D’. It may be noted that candidates will not be considered for post for which they have not exercised preference.
Preferences of Departments/Offices for allocation will be obtained at the time of skill test.
