Punjab Patwari Exam Pattern
(i) The Recruitment Test will be held in TWO stages. All candidates will take the First Stage Test, which will be conducted at the examination centres located at Chandigarh and/or depending on number of applications received, the examination centres can also be located at Amritsar, Hoshiarpur, Jalandhar, Ludhiana, Patiala, Bathinda and Ferozpur.
(ii) Candidates equal to 10 times the number of vacancies in each category will be shortlisted to take the Second Stage Test, which will be held only in Chandigarh.
(iii) The Selection of the candidates will be strictly on the basis of Merit in the Second Stage Test. The First Stage Test will be only for shortlisting.
(iv) Both First Stage & Second Stage Tests will be of Objective Type of two (2) hours duration consisting of 100 objective type questions with multiple choice answers.
(v) Criteria for the written test will be as under:-

(vi) The medium of examination will be English (except questions of Punjabi Language subject as mentioned at Sr. No. 5 in (ii) above).
(vii) Candidates have to make their own arrangement for reaching at the examination centres so allotted to them.
(viii) There will be negative marking in multiple choice questions. For every wrong answer, 1/4th negative marking is applicable.
(ix) Weightage of written test shall be 100% marks for consideration of merit in selection.
(x) In case of two or more candidates obtaining equal marks, the candidate older in age shall be placed higher in the order of merit.

General Knowledge : Questions will be asked on candidates knowledge of events happening in the surroundings. This section will be based on current affairs about India and neighbouring countries. National/International, Awards, Indian Languages, Books, Countries, Capital, Currency, Sports, General Politics, Constitution of India, Sicence & Technology, Cultuer & Heritage of India & Punjab etc.
Current Events will be based on – Punjab, National, International
History & Geography will be based on – Punjab & India.

Mental Ability : Questions will be asked from analogies, similarities and differences, Spatial visualization & orientation, problem solving, analysis, judgment, decision making, visual memory, discrimination, observation, relationship concepts, arithmetic reasoning, verbal and figure classification, Calendar, series, non-verbal series, coding and decoding, blood relations, statement conclusion, syllogistic reasoning

Arithmetic Skills : The test of Arithmetical and Numerical abilities will cover Arithmatic, Number Systems, Simplification, Time & Work, Time & Distance, L.C.M., H.C.F., Ratio & Proportion, Percentage, Average, Profit & Loss, Discount, Interest, Mensuration, Tables, Graphs, Decimals, Volume of cube, cuboid, Cone, Cylinder, Sphere, Fractions etc. Questions will also be asked from accounting i.e. debt, debitor, credit, creditors, assets and liabilities, capital, etc. Plain Mensuration – Area of Circle, Triangle, Square, Parallogram, Rohumbas, Cube, Cuboid, Cone, Cylinder, Sphere etc.

English/ Punjabi Language : Candidates’ ability to understand correct language, his basic comprehension and writing ability, etc. would be tested. Questions will be asked from error recognition, fill in the blanks (using verbs, preposition, articles etc), Vocabulary, Spellings, Grammar, Sentence Structure, Synonyms, Antonyms, Sentence Completion, Phrases and Idiomatic use of Words, etc.

Computer/IT : Computer Fundamentals, Windows (MS-Windows), MS-Office : Word Processing (MS-Word), Spread Sheet (MS-Excel), Presentation Knowledge (MS-Power Point), MS Access and Usage of Internet Services available on Internet, Communication Technology, Networking Concepts.

Agriculture : Questions will be asked from Basic topics like Agriculture Management, Agro-industry Sector, Facts of Rural Areas, Agricultural Education, Type of Lands, Type of Crops, Categories of land, Chain, Services Sector, Farming, Irrigation Methods, Areas of Land, Comprehension etc.
