There is a 23.55 per cent increase in pay, allowances and pension that is recommended. It may be lower than the 40% increase that the Sixth Pay Commission brought. However it might be due to the fact that India currently has a weaker economic and financial situation.

7th CPC Salary as per Grade Pay

This Pay Commission recommends an increase of 16 per cent in basic pay, 63 per cent in allowances and 24 per cent in pension. Involving 47 lakh employees and 52 lakh pensioners.

Important Points of 7th Pay Commission:

  • A 23.55% increase in pay, allowances and pension.
  • The minimum salary which was earlier 7750 in 6th pay commission, will now be Rs. 18000.
  • The maximum pay will be ₹2,25,000/month at the apex scale and ₹2,50,000/month for Cabinet Secretary-level posts.
  • This increment in 7th Central Pay Commission will cost Government around 1.02 Lakh Crore rupees or 0.65% of GDP.
  • The report also recommends an annual increment of 3 per cent in basic pay.
  • House rent allowance will be paid at the rate of 24%, 16% and 8% of the new Basic Pay for Class X, Y and Z cities respectively.
  • The gratuity ceiling has been enhanced from Rs. 10 lakh to Rs. 20 lakh.
